World Nomads Unexpected Travel Stories

Eligibility

  • How old do I need to be to be eligible to enter?
    You need to be at least 18 at the time of the competition entry deadline (November 20, 2018) in order to enter. Sorry, we can't make any exceptions to this rule.
  • I'm not from the United States or Canada can I still enter?
    While we are a global company and run many campaigns for our global audience, this campaign is open to residents of the United States and Canada only. Unfortunately, due to legal restrictions, this competition is not open to residents of Quebec or Puerto Rico.
  • Can my travel companion be from an excluded country?
    Yes! They can come along as the travel companion of a winner. The restrictions only apply to them entering the competition. Flights for both winner and companion will need to be from an eligible country.
  • I work for one of your program partners. Can I enter?
    Employees of World Nomads, Jubel, PrAna, or Grayl, their subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and members of their immediate families or households, are ineligible to enter this competition.
  • Do I need a current passport? What about visa requirements?
    You need a current passport with at least eight months left before expiry. The travelers are are responsible for obtaining all required documentaion for travel to destination country for lenth of stay. World Nomads and trip partner will work with winner to ensure they know in advance what documentation is required and have sufficient time to obtain it.

Applications

  • Can I enter more than once?
    No, you can only submit one entry per person but we encourage you to share with your friends and family (they might choose you to travel with them!).
  • Does it matter which story I select as my favorite?
    No! We just want to get to know you better so we can provide the best travel inspiration. If you do win, the information you provide in your entry will not affect your trip itinerary.
  • Will my entry be public?
    No, your entry to the competition won't be public. The only people who will see it are our judging team.
  • How will the winner be chosen?
    The winner will be chosen based on having the best written response that demonstrates engagement with the featured unexpected travel stories. You can find more specific information regarding the winner and selection process in the Official Rules.

The Trip

  • What do you mean by surprise trip?
    We are working with our trip partner Jubel, an award-winning experiential travel company that quickly customizes multi-destination trips for your style, preferences, and all within your budget! They have planned 2,000+ unforgettable experiences to over 100 countries and have been featured on Forbes, Condé Nast, Thrillist, and the Wall Street Journal. To add to the excitement, travelers will have the option of making their itinerary a complete surprise. Take Jubel's travel survey to find out how they plan trips and where they might send you!
  • What will the winners receive?
    The winner will win the following to share with their travel companion:
    • A personally planned itinerary (for up to 10 days), airfare from home country to surprise destination, accommodations, and selected destination activities.   
    • Merchandise from PrAna.com and theGrayl.com.
    • A World Nomads Explorer plan travel insurance policy for two to cover the above trip.
  • What are the trip dates?
    The winner will work directly with Jubel to plan the trip, which must be redeemed within one calendar year from the date of winner selection.
  • Can I extend the trip?
    You will need to work with Jubel on any changes to your trip itinerary. If changes are made, you will be responsible for any additional costs.
  • Where can I ask about special requirements or specific requests for the trip?
    Jubel will be planning the trip itinerary with input from the winner once they have been announced. All requests and requirements can be discussed with Jubel during that time.
