Travel Insurance: What is my country of residence?

As a guide, generally, your country of permanent residence is the country you would want to be repatriated to in the event of a medical emergency abroad, and where you are entitled to long term health care if required.

Eligibility criteria

You are eligible for cover under our Ireland insurance product if you normally live in the Republic of Ireland and you:

    • will be 69 years old or younger at the time you buy or extend your policy; and
    • have your home address where you live in the Republic of Ireland.

Please be aware:

  • The Republic of Ireland is where we will repatriate you to in the event of a medical emergency, which is particularly why you must have unrestricted right of entry there.
  • This product is not available to residents of Northern Ireland.
  • All people named on a policy must be from the same country of residence. If you are travelling with people from different countries of residence, they will have to buy separate policies, which may have different terms and conditions of cover.
  • In the event of a claim, you may be required to provide proof of residence in the Republic of Ireland (for example, current utility bills in your name, tenancy agreements, other insurance certificates, etc).
