British Airways (BA) have notified travelers there will be significant delays and cancellations impacting flights on September 9, 10 and 27, 2019 due to industrial action.

They have also provided some FAQs on the strike with helpful suggestions for travelers booked to fly with BA.

I’m heading on holidays and flying with BA on those dates -  what does this mean for me?

As this event is now anticipated, there is no cover for claims arising from this strike action for policies purchased after 11:00am (NZST) on 26 August 2019.

If we’ve issued your Certificate of Insurance before this time, you may be able to claim for cancellation or trip interruption cover.  For more information please check your policy.

In the event of a claim covered by your policy, you must do everything you can to minimise and reduce the cost of the claim and provide all supporting documentation of the event and expenses incurred. If you intend to submit a claim, please complete the claim form and if you need help doing this, contact us.

What should I do now?

In the first instance, if you think your travel plans might be affected you should first:

  1. Contact your airline, cruise or tour operator to check if tourist services are affected.

  2. If you need to change your travel arrangements, contact your airline, cruise company or travel agent for assistance in the first instance.

If you have any other concerns, please contact us.
