Travel Insurance for Indonesia

Everything you need to know about Indonesia, a world where ancient temples coexist with bustling cities.

Indonesia’s the world's largest archipelago to form a single state – where emerald jungles meet sprawling rice terraces and volcanic landscapes. From Yogyakarta's vibrant streets to the Gili islands' serene shores, Indonesia’s a tapestry of diverse experiences waiting to be discovered. But, with such adventures comes the unexpected, which is why you may consider packing some travel insurance before setting off to wander Jakarta’s markets, surf Bali's waves, or trek Sumatra's lush trails.

What’s covered

At World Nomads, we try to keep insurance simple so you can focus on enjoying your time abroad. We offer two insurance plans: Standard and Explorer – our Standard Plan offers a base level of coverage, and our Explorer Plan offers coverage with more benefits and higher limits.

Depending on your Country of Residence, your travel insurance plan can offer cover for:

  • Delayed, lost, or stolen baggage and personal effects: Heading to Indonesia with checked bags? There's a slim chance they might go on an unplanned tour. No sweat – our delay benefits can cover essential items (think basic clothing and toiletries) until your baggage finds its way back to you. And if your gear’s lost or pinched? We’re here to help (after you’ve gone through other necessary channels first). Want to know more about World Nomads travel insurance cover for baggage and personal effects? We have an entire article here.
  • Trip cancellation and trip interruption: World Nomads travel insurance for trip interruption might have you covered for unexpected trip cancellations to Indonesia – think family emergencies or a doctor-advised travel halt. On the road and need to head back home early? Our policy could cover your return and any non-refundable costs. Just remember, keep those receipts and docs for any claims!
  • Overseas medical emergencies and hospital expenses: No one plans to go to Bali and get Bali Belly, yet…we all know it happens. Problem is, your usual health insurance may not cover you abroad, and medical expenses can be costly. Both our Standard and Explorer plans offer overseas medical travel insurance coverage.
  • Cover for 150+ adventure sports and activities: If you’re a fan of getting the adrenaline pumping while holidaying abroad, then Indonesia’s got the goods for you. Diving in Komodo Park, or jungle trekking in Borneo? You may be covered. With World Nomads, you're covered for over 150 adventure sports and activities. But, before you dive into Indonesia's natural wonders, make sure to check your policy to ensure your action-seeking pursuits are included.

Whether you're temple-hopping in Bali or diving in Raja Ampat, choosing the right level of coverage is key. Read the policy wording, browse the World Nomads’ Help Center, or contact our customer service team to see if what you’re planning to do is covered under your plan.

What’s not covered

Remember, travel insurance isn't a catch-all safety net. Our goal at World Nomads is to be there for you when you need us most, but there are a few things that fall outside of our policies:

  • Off the list activities and sports: If it's not in our policy wording or you haven't opted for that extra cover, those adventurous pursuits aren't covered.
  • Doctor's orders: Ignoring advice from your doctor or our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team? That's a no-go for coverage.
  • Valuables on the loose: Items that get lost, stolen, or damaged because they were left unwatched? We can't cover those.
  • Risky business: Taking unnecessary risks, breaking local laws, or misbehaving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol? It’s not only dumb, it’s also not covered.
  • Unclaimed expenses: If you haven't tried to get back costs from other sources like carriers or booking agents, we can't step in.
  • Change of heart: Decided not to travel? That's a personal choice we can't cover.

This is just a quick rundown. To really get into the nitty-gritty of what's covered (and what's not), give your policy wording a thorough read. It's the best way to know exactly where you stand with your travel insurance. Still not sure? Contact us. We’re happy to help.
