If you're a UK adventurer passionate about cycling and mountain biking, it's essential to have the right travel insurance for your biking activities.
At World Nomads, our travel insurance offers coverage for cycling and mountain biking activities, including medical evacuation and medical transport, medical expenses and transport. Whether you enjoy cycle touring, or mountain biking, our policies can protect you throughout your two-wheeled adventures. Let's explore the key details
Cycle touring: Independent, group, or organized tours (limited to one continent only; no intercontinental cycle touring coverage available);
Mountain biking: On-road, off-road, cross country, tracks, downhill trails, and incidental biking during the trip.
To ensure coverage for your specific cycling activity, simply list the activity when purchasing your policy; additional premium may be charged. For example, select "Cycling - incidental to trip" or "Cycling - independent cycle touring." Be aware that special conditions and exclusions may apply to certain cycling activities. Review the policy wording for clarity.
As long as you're acting responsibly, using recommended safety equipment and protective clothing, our travel insurance offers cover for accidents and injuries during your biking adventures. The following benefits are available:
Evacuation: If medically necessary and urgent (including helicopter evacuation when available), we arrange transportation back to the nearest and most suitable medical facility;
Emergency medical expenses overseas: We cover necessary hospital treatment or treatment by a local doctor at a medical centre;
Repatriation (curtailment): If you're seriously ill or injured and unable to continue your trip, we arrange transport back to your home country (subject to the agreement of the insurer).
Subject to our approval, the medical transport and repatriation benefits are payable from the date the sudden illness first manifested or the injury occurred. In case of an incident requiring evacuation, immediately contact our Emergency Medical Assistance Team and remain in contact until you no longer require treatment or assistance.
Payment for medical treatment depends on the circumstances and necessary treatment required. You may either pay upfront and claim later or rely on us for payment, depending on the situation. If costs are going to be high, be sure you contact the Emergency Medical Assistance Team for assistance in co-ordinating your care and treatment costs.
While our travel insurance provides extensive coverage, it's important to be aware of what's not covered. Take the time to read the policy wording, including the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions. Here are some key exclusions:
