You’ve got a one way ticket in your back pocket and plans for a great new job, life or adventure… but you’re not covered for the trip to get you there. That’s where World Nomads’ Single Trip Travel Insurance comes in, covering the gap between your old life.

Start your future on a high note

World Nomads offers single trip travel insurance to cover you and your personal items for as long as you need us to, whether it be a few days, a few weeks or even months, before you get to where you’re going.

Most of our travellers on a one-way ticket are moving for a new job and are most concerned about cancellation or losing their baggage on the way.

We offer Standard or Explorer options with differing cover. It’s up to you to consider your requirements and match them up with the right cover for your needs.

Single Trip cover

All World Nomads policies cover those events our travellers most often encounter including:

  • Medical
  • Cancellation
  • Luggage cover
  • 24/7 Worldwide assistance

We cover more than 150 activities depending on the policy you choose and if it’s not on the list, call us and we’ll let you know if we’ll cover it.

Exclusions

There are of course exclusions which apply. Some of the exclusions which may apply are:

  • Cancellation or other expenses if you change your mind and decide not to go.
  • Any claim arising or resulting from you being involved in any malicious, reckless, illegal, or criminal act
  • Medical claims arising from alcohol and/or drug abuse
  • Non-emergency treatment that can wait until you return home (it's not health insurance, it's for travel emergencies)
  • Pre-existing medical conditions

This is not a full list of what is and isn't covered. Make sure you read your policy wording so you know what you're covered for.

Severe diarrhea.

Whilst travelling, I had severe diarrhea. I lost about 5 kg of weight in around 36 hours and submitted myself to hospital. They placed me on a drip, gave me some medication and did some initial tests. They said that I would need to come back in a few days and have a colonoscopy and endoscopy, to determine what the problem was. After having these examinations, the doctor said that she wasn't sure what was wrong, but said I should return to England to have more tests as she was concerned regarding my condition.

Pre-existing medical conditions

You are not eligible to buy a policy if you travel against medical advice, travel with the intention of receiving medical treatment, or have a terminal illness. World Nomads policies cannot cover claims due to Pre-Existing Medical Conditions (PEMC), regardless of whether the condition is serious or not. You can still purchase a World Nomads policy, but the PEMC exclusion cannot be removed, and you will be responsible for any related costs.

For information on travel insurance providers that offer cover on PEMC, visit Money Helper or call 0800 138 7777.
