The Jigokudani Monkey Park is nestled in Nagano's Joshinetsu Kogen National Park. A Monkey's haven with hot springs, they forage for food on a warm autumn day whilst a guard keeps watch.

A social species, when they aren't foraging for food, they're grooming each other of fleas and other insects in their fur.

Bathing in the springs, they are well suited to their environment as their colours and the shape of their fur blend into their surroundings when wet. In winter, the area would be covered with snow as they soak in the hot springs.

Whilst the adults are busy foraging for food or grooming each other, the young will play and explore! Like a child's favourite toy chewed and much loved, so are the cabling that humans have conveniently placed within reach.

The leader is easily spotted on the bridge walk-way overlooking the foragers and troop. Told not to look at them directly in the eyes lest they are provoked, through a camera's lens we can see the world from his view, reflected through his eyes.
