Busójárás is a festival in Mohács. Busó groups are walking through the city, making noise with cowbells and rattles to scare off winter. Men wear frightening horned wooden masks and big sheepskin costumes, women wear national costume.

Pagan roots are also visible at the Busójárás. It is not only a farewell from the winter, it is also a fertility celebration. Busós insult women, mostly they ruffle the hair or hug the female visitors of the event.

Around 100.000 visitors traveled to Mohács for the most important day of the festival in 2016. This tradition is acknowledged by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
